How to Install a Comfort System Pump

Today we are going to solve the issue of waiting forever for your hot water to reach you by installing a comfort pump on standard hot water heater.

To install the comfort system pump, you have to first turn off the water to the hot water heater and drain it down using the kitchen sink faucet. You must make sure there is no more hot water flowing into the system. Then you have to disconnect the hot water flux on the top of the heater.

Once that is completed, take and install the pump. The female adapter goes directly on top of the hot water heater. Connect the pump on the top of the hot water heater and then reconnect the supply hose to the top of the pump.

Turn the water supply back on and check for leaks around the hot water heater.

Moving to the bathroom, take the “T” that comes with the comfort system pump and install it under the lavatory that is the furthest from the hot water heater. This piece acts as a recirculation system which takes the cold on one side of the “T” and the hot on the other and uses the cold to recirculate the hot water system.

To install the “T” connect the supply lines from the faucet to it then directly to the gas shutoff valve as seen in the video at 2:46.

This new line will serve as a recirculating line to keep the hot water going through the home.

The comfort system can be set to what time of the day you plan on using the water, so after completing the installation of the “T” in the furthest lavatory, return to the hot water heater.

The glass cover pops off the system’s face. There will be a switch to either turn the timer on or off. If you want to have a timer, turn the arrow toward on. You will also see numbers around the face of the piece. These are switches which you will set by flipping them out from the center. There are switches for every 15 minutes that you want to have the pump on. You will want to have it turned on about 30 minutes before and 15 minutes after you plan to use the hot water.

Once you have set your desired times, or turned off the timer altogether, return the glass piece.
Your instant hot water to your lavatory should now be ready for use. You can test it by returning to the lavatory you installed it on and running the water.
